How to Customize Your Notion Site's Header
On June 25th, 2024, Notion introduced a powerful new feature called Notion Sites. This update brought a range of exciting tools for users to create and customize their own websites directly from Notion. One of the standout features is the ability to edit your site's header, including toggling options for duplication, search, breadcrumbs, and the Notion watermark.
In this blog post, we’ll walk you through the steps to customize your Notion Site's header and manage the duplication settings.
What's New in Notion Sites?
Notion Sites allows users to easily publish and share their Notion pages as standalone websites. This feature is particularly useful for personal blogs, portfolios, and internal documentation. With the launch, users have been asking, "What happened to the toggle duplication option?" Here's a comprehensive guide to help you navigate these new features.
While the Notion team heard the feedback and brought back the duplication toggle into the main share menu, here’s a brief overview of the header options.
The New Default Header
With this update, when you publish a Notion Site the default header includes:
Breadcrumbs: Helps users trace back to previous pages.
Search: allows users to search for content.
Duplicate as template: Allows visitors to duplicate the page as a template.
Three Dots Menu: Includes options for signing up or logging into Notion, reporting the page, and accessing cookie settings.
Built with Notion Watermark: this watermark can only be removed once you pay for a custom domain plan.
How to Get To Header Settings
Here’s how to get to the header settings:
Click the Share button on the top right of the notion page
Click on the Publish tab
Click on Site customization
Click on Header
Here you’ll find options to toggle on or off
Make sure to hit publish changes on the top right to save all your edits.
Other Site Customization Options
If you want to do either of the following:
Change the theme (light, dark, or system-matched).
Update the favicon (the small icon shown in the browser tab).
Go to Share > Publish > Site Customization.
Conclusion
Customizing your Notion Site is straightforward and enhances your visitors' experience by allowing you to tailor the site's features to your needs. Whether you're streamlining the header or ensuring your content isn't duplicated without permission, these options provide greater control over your site's presentation.
